Je pense que l'on peut accépter l'inverse ( on est libre de penser que le chien est plus beau que le chat ou l'inverse )

Comparatif de supériorité ( plus ... que ):

- adjectifs courts :  ADJECTIF-ER   + than

-adjectifs longs : MORE + ADJECTIF + than

( Les adjectifs de 2 syllabes qui finnisent par "y" fonctionnent comme des adjectifs courts .  ( "y"=> "i" ) ex : happy => happier )

Adjectifs irréguliers :  ( good=> better / bed => worse ... )
